As a nominee to the Supreme Court,  Ketanji Brown Jackson  is one of the best-qualified candidate ever presented to Congress. The vetting for her nomination was rigorous, her recommendations fulsome and her character unimpeachable. There are no accusations of sexual misconduct here.

Her breadth of knowledge of the law, balanced judgement, down-to-earth common sense, good manners and grace under pressure were evident throughout the hearings. Her unassailable qualifications and experience are better than most of the current Supreme Court justices, and certainly far above those of her meritless detractors. If the Judicial Committee had no way of knowing this candidate’s gender and race, any senator would have been hard put to find a single reason for a vote in opposition to her. But some will. The “reasons” they have cited for their opposition are beside the point at least or simply lies. Whatever lame excuses offered, history should forever deem those casting negative votes misogynistic racists.

Ketanji Brown Jackson has more than earned a seat on the Supreme Court; the American people need to have her there. The question is, does the present court deserve her?
