The late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia once wrote, “If there was any constitutional issue resolved by the Civil War, it is that there is no right to secede.” To Scalia’s point, it should be noted that the U.S. Constitution contains procedures for admitting new states into the nation, but none for a state to leave.

So, what were the 13 members of the New Hampshire State Legislature thinking when they wasted taxpayer money and time to seek secession from the union? I believe that we have a right to know. Will they answer?
