A Fitzwilliam man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a weekend crash in Rindge.
According to police, Jordan, Damon, 30, was arrested Saturday evening and charged with driving under the influence, subsequent offense, and released on personal recognizance bail.
According to police, officers responded to Route 119ย in the area of Old Fitzwilliam Road Saturday afternoon for a motor vehicle crash which had caused a pole and live wires to fall across the road, making Route 119 impassible. A detour was set up from Mountain Road to Route 202 and University Drive from Route 119 while the pole was removed and replaced.
Damon was the only occupant in the vehicle and was uninjured. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The accident was likely a result of a combination of speed, road conditions and driver impairment, according to Police Chief Rachel Malynowski.ย
There are no other charges pending, but restitution for the cost of repairs will be sought, said Malynowski.
Damon was scheduled to be arraigned in 8th District Court, Jaffrey, on March 30.
