James A. Tuttle Library, 45 Main St. in Antrim, will host a presentation with “This Land of Snow” author Anders Morley Tuesday, March 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

A passionate skier since he was a child, Morley dreamed of going on a significant adventure, something bold and of his own design. One year in his early 30s, he decided to strap on cross-country skis to travel across Canada in the winter alone.

“This Land of Snow” is about that journey and a man who must come to terms with what he has left behind, as well as how he wants to continue living after his trip is over. Along the way, readers gain insight into northern outdoor culture and modern-day wilderness living, the history of northern exploration and Nordic skiing, the right to roam movement, winter ecology and more.

Morley has worked as a translator and teacher in Italy, a tree-planter in Saskatchewan and a forester’s assistant in British Columbia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Taylor University, a master’s degree in ancient history from the University of St. Andrews and has studied history and modern languages at Columbia University, Edinburgh University and the Universitàdeglistudidi Bergamo. His work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Maisonneuve, Northern Woodlands, The Aurorean and New Hampshire Magazine.

Morley divides his time between northern New Hampshire and northern Italy.
