If I’m in Peterborough and we meet, I may tell you “I’m from over in Rindge.” When I travel to Keene, then it’s “I’m from down in Rindge.” Should I make the bold move to cross the southern border, then I’ll probably tell you “I’m from up in Rindge.” Anywhere south of Route 2, well, it’s likely my answer will be “Near Mount Monadnock.”

But in Rindge, if you are born and raised right here in town and ask where I am from, then I know I must confess — I’m from Massachusetts.

My husband and I settled here in Rindge in 2005. We more or less closed our eyes, swirled our hand around in circles suspended over a map of New England, and let it drop. Actually, that’s not exactly how we found our way here. First, we fell in love online. That is, we found our house listed on the internet, fell in love with it and moved 90 minutes northwest to a town we’d never heard of to be with it forever.

Then we settled into Rindge by growing our family, grounding our roots in the community, getting to know many kind individuals and families and eventually sending our children off to the local public school. And so many years later, here I am, writing to you as the community correspondent for the Monadnock-Ledger Transcript. (I just had to spell-check “correspondent.” Please don’t lose confidence in me yet, L-T!)

Over in Rindge, I’ve found that there is much to celebrate and enjoy, with the town bringing its own uniqueness to the greater Monadnock Region. Stories of the everyday happenings and joys of this town are what I hope to impart in my time as community correspondent. (No need for spell-check that time!) I love a good story, and really love to write one. Just as much, I appreciate hearing the stories others have to share.

Perhaps you made note of person performing great service for the community, or maybe you were on the receiving end of someone else’s kindness or generosity.. Whether you’re here in your hometown and see something interesting you’d like to share, or you’re visiting Rindge and have an experience while out and about that made your day, please email me. Let’s connect so we bring these everyday experiences to the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript for all our neighbors in this great community to enjoy.
