The Jaffrey-Rindge MLK Jr. Committee and International Institute of New England thank the many Monadnock-area residents and residents of surrounding communities who donated goods for our National Day of Service community donation drive for Afghan evacuees arriving in New Hampshire this winter. Thanks to the incredible generosity and kindness of the community, we raised more than $2,500 in gift cards and monetary donations and collected over 70 boxes and 25 bags full of tangible donations, including microwaves, coffeemakers, kitchenware, more than 10 quilts, sheets, blankets, comforters, three room-size rugs, six boxes and three bags of warm clothes and winter hats, mittens and socks, clothing hangers, a car seat, children’s toys and stuffed animals, a portable crib, 16 bags/school kits, boxes full of bath and personal items and so much more.

These donations will help welcome the evacuees settling in New Hampshire this winter and will make a difference in the lives of many. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with sorting and packing the goods, and thank you to Tieger Realty, the Rindge Recreation Department and Conant High School for providing us with locations for the donation boxes.
