This letter is in response to Justin Charles of Rindge (“Choose churches that take pandemic seriously”).
Words from Charles about COVID protocols in the Monadnock region were “These are not churches spreading the good news of Jesus, but temples for a death cult.”
He wants all people vaccinated, masked, distanced, isolated, in order for him and like-minded people to feel in power, safe, secure and ready to “live a normal life again.” I have been living a “normal” life, without too much restriction. New Hampshire has been relatively free of Draconian lockdowns and mandates, although if I had my way, there would have been none. This worries Charles, but in actuality New Hampshire has fewer deaths per million as New York, California and other blue states who have had and continue to have massive state restrictions with vaccinations, masks and other measures.
Most unvaccinated people I know have either had COVID or have been exposed to people who had COVID and may be asymptomatic. If you have a vaccine, you can also be asymptomatic and spread COVID.
I do believe vaccines help in the short term, and with continued shots and booster shots in perpetuity, we may lick this, but if any person chooses to stay unvaccinated, unmasked, but is careful to isolate when sick, beef up their immune systems, eat right and be cognitive around people who may not think like us, we will lick this also.
According to Charles, in his seminary class, I would be a case study in how not to follow Jesus. I believe Jesus would disagree and say, “Love your vaccinated and your unvaccinated brother.” Peace and love.
