On Saturday, Nov. 20, at 9:45 a.m., writer Bonnar Spring will speak at the Monadnock Writers’ Group monthly speaker series at Peterborough Town Library.
Spring will talk about her writing career and award-winning debut novel, “Toward the Light.” A lifelong traveler, she hitchhiked across Europe at 16 and joined the Peace Corps after college. Her travel experience is reflected in “Toward the Light” and the upcoming “Disappeared,” both from Oceanview Publishing.
Her writing has appeared in the New England crime anthology, “Landfall,” and was nominated for the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award. Earlier this year, she won the Hemingway Writers’ Challenge sponsored by the New Hampshire Writers’ Project. In addition to writing, Spring teaches English as a second language. She was raised in Texas and now divides her time between houses on a New Hampshire salt marsh and by the Sea of Abaco in the Bahamas.
The general public, especially anyone who enjoys mysteries, is invited to attend.
Since 1984, the Monadnock Writers’ Group (MWG) has supported local writers of all genres and levels of achievement. Monthly meetings, held on the third Saturday of each month, bring a variety of accomplished writers to the Monadnock Region to offer their experiences. In addition, MWG publishes periodic anthologies and “Smoky Quartz,” a semiannual online journal of literature and art. Throughout the year, MWG hosts public readings and informal gatherings to raise awareness of the literary talent in the Monadnock Region. Learn more at monadnockwriters.org and smokyquartz.org.
