One person died and another was critically injured at the scene of a three-car accident on Route 202 in Peterborough Wednesday morning. Jillian Bosworth, 30, of Peterborough, was traveling southbound when she crossed the center line and collided with another car, according to Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard.

The crash occurred at just after 7 a.m., according to Peterborough Fire Chief Ed Walker, near the Peterborough and Jaffrey town line.

The second car, operated by Kim Reth, 52, of Jaffrey, was then hit by another vehicle traveling behind it, driven by Robin Marmorstein, 47, of Peterborough.

Reth had to be extricated from her vehicle by Jaffrey Fire and Rescue, and was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester with “extremely critical injuries,” according to Guinard. Marmorstein was unharmed.

The section of the road remained closed for about 3 1/2 hours to allow for cleanup. The crash remains under investigation by the Peterborough Police Department.
