Mascenic’s mask mandate is back, as cases in the district went up to seven on Thursday, with four suspected.

The district’s rule is that mandatory masks will be implemented in the event of 10 cases district-wide. Thursday evening, the district announced that the suspected four cases meant that masks would be required Friday.

Superintendent Chris Martin announced this to district families, once again emphasizing the fluidity of the situation and the potential for revisiting the numbers over the weekend. The district will be monitoring and making decisions daily as transmission levels change, she indicated.

“If all goes well, no masks will be required on Monday, Oct. 4,” she said.

This is the second time that Mascenic has implemented mandatory masking so far this year, with the previous instance beginning Sept. 9 and lasting until Sept. 23.
