Violinist Tessa Lark and pianist Amy Yang will play at the Hancock Common on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Tessa Lark began playing violin at the age of 6 in central Kentucky and has kept in touch with her regional music roots all the way through graduation from the New England Conservatory of Music and winning the 2012 Walter M. Naumburg International Violin Competition in New York City. In 2020 she was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Classical Instrumental Solo category and received one of Lincoln Center’s prestigious Emerging Artist Awards: the special Hunt Family Award. Recent honors include a 2018 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Tessa’s partner is the acclaimed pianist Amy Yang, who balances an active career as a soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue. With degrees from Curtis, Julliard, and the Yale School of Music, she is featured at festivals around the country. The Washington Post said she is a “jaw-dropping pianist who steals the show…with effortless finesse.”

Tessa and Amy come to Hancock courtesy of Vermont’s Yellow Barn and their roving outdoor venue called “Music Haul,” complete with stage and sound system.
