Local track and field stars finished their seasons racing the best each NHIAA division had to offer at the Meet of Champions, held at Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston Saturday.

Conant junior Ethan Vitello had a good day, finishing seventh in the boys’ 400M (52.17) after advancing out of the slower heat.

Mascenic senior Landen Vaillancourt set a personal record in the boys’ 800M run, where he finished ninth in 2:00.30.

Conant senior Matt Bernier finished 12th in the boys’ 1,600M (4:46.80).

Mascenic sophomore Drew Traffie had a nice race in the boys’ 3,200M, despite the oppressive weather which was not conducive to distance running; he took 11th in 10:50.09.

Wilton-Lyndeborough junior and Division III champion Sam Boette was eighth in the girls’ 100M (13.14) and 10th in the 200M (27.34).

Freshman Tasha MacNeil of ConVal was 12th in the girls’ javelin throw (83’7’).

Mascenic head coach Mike Smith was honored with the Peter Lovejoy Memorial Coaches’ Award, which is bestowed upon track and field coaches who have made significant contributions to the sport over 20 or more years coaching.
