Antrim’s retiring Police Chief Scott Lester thanked the community for their help and cooperation during his tenure in a retirement ceremony at Town Hall Monday night, at which town officials, residents, and fellow officers gathered to express their congratulations.

Select Board Chair John Robertson presented Lester with a plaque, thanking him for his 13 years of service as Antrim’s Police Chief. The town also presented the retiring chief’s wife and daughter, Tammy and Breanna, with flowers, thanking them for the support they gave to Lester over the years.

State Rep. Jim Creighton read a proclamation from the speaker of the State House, which referred to Lester as a “stalwart native son of Antrim” whose leadership oversaw the construction of a new police station, and substantial upgrades to the town’s law and order capabilities. He also read a congratulatory note from Gov. Chris Sununu.

Lester became a part-time police officer in 1993 at age 19, and moved up to full-time in 1996. He served in Lyndeborough, Hancock and Peterborough before coming to Antrim in 2008. Upon retiring, he’s joining Homestead Property Watch and Management Services, a new enterprise of Hancock businessman Kurt Grassett.

Brian Lord is the new Police Chief. He has served with the department since 2008.
