A Francestown man was returned home in good condition on Friday morning after an overnight search, Police Chief Michael Dowd said.
Thomas Peters, 68, was reported missing after failing to return home Thursday night, according to a press release from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. Peters had become disoriented and was forced to spend the night in the woods, but heard vehicle traffic and came out on Pleasant Pond Road about 3.5 miles from home, where a Hillsborough County Sheriffโs Deputy found him at 9:47 a.m. and brought him back home. He was โin good condition,โ Dowd said, but was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital for observation as a precaution. The overnight search involved state helicopter and K9 units, and Fish and Game and Conservation Officers joined the search in the morning due to Petersโ medical history and near-freezing temperatures, according to the press release. Francestown police, fire and rescue personnel, the New England K9 search and Rescue and the Upper Valley Wilderness Response team were all involved in the search.
