Mason middle and high school students are starting the year under the Milford School District’s hybrid option after a School Board vote on Thursday night.

The hybrid option of the reopening plan allows students to come to school in person on alternating days while following required in-building safety protocols, or choose to take classes entirely remotely. Students will be assigned to A and B groups, which alternate days on campus in order to limit class size, student exposure, decrease the burden on transportation, and support physical distancing, according to the plan. Masks will be required on buses and in school whenever six feet of distance can’t be maintained, families are expected to screen their students prior to each school day, and a confirmed case of COVID-19 will trigger a remote learning day for the affected school building while administrators determine whether to quarantine the classroom, school, or the entire district. School starts Sept. 10.

The full plan is available on the School District’s website.

As previously reported, Mason’s elementary school students are also starting out with a hybrid year where half the school’s 85 students attend in person on Monday and Tuesday, and the other half attend on Thursday and Friday, and attend online at other times of the week.
