Francestown’s household hazardous waste collection day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15 at the town’s transfer station on Todd Road. Residents can drop off unwanted chemicals free of charge.

Residents can drop off the following chemicals for free: acids, antifreeze, brake fluid, bleach, chlorine, fertilizer, gasoline, herbicides, insecticides, kerosene, lead, mercury, moth balls, naptha, oven cleaner, oil based paints, paint thinners and solvents, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, photography chemicals, swimming pool chemicals, rodenticide, window cleaners, spot removers, wood preservatives, and used gas.

The following items will not be accepted: latex paint products, biohazard material, explosives or ammunition, radioactive material, or large cylinders such as acetylene tanks.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon and is hosted by the Francestown waste disposal committee.
