Dublin is moving on roof and streetlight repairs while dealing with effects of the COVID-19 closures, including 300 outstanding dog licenses and a canceled summer kids’ program. Church Street will be closed to traffic once roofing work begins on the Town Hall starting July 6 and continues for the following 14 working days, Select Board Chair Walter Snitko said at the Select Board meeting on June 23. The Board is also set to vote on soliciting bids for repairing the streetlights in the town center, which were damaged in April 2019 by an oversized load on a truck. The repairs are estimated to cost $10,800 and the replaced structures will have shorter arms to keep the lights farther away from traffic, a Board member said at the meeting.
The high number of outstanding dog licenses is likely due to the town office closures, Town Administrator Kate Fuller said, since the Town Clerk’s office was closed to the public when people would normally come to license their dog. The Board opted to send friendly reminders to residents with outstanding licenses first, and the second step could take another form, including fines, Fuller said. The town’s summer playground program has also been canceled, she said, after the Select Board discussed the difficulty to operate a program under COVID-19 guidelines while ConVal properties are closed.
