ConVal students honored for German studies

Twenty-seven ConVal students received awards for their scores on the National German Exam, which they took electronically earlier this year. The test involved listening and viewing portions, as well as reading components. Nationwide, 25,000 high school students take the test, which can qualify students for study trips. These exams are different from Advanced Placement exams in that they evaluate German students of every level, from beginner to advanced, ConVal German teacher Cindi Hodgdon said. All travel study trips scheduled for this summer were canceled due to COVID-19.

Level 1 student Kara Keiper received a Gold Medal for her score in the 90th percentile or higher.

Receiving Silver Medals for scores in the 80th to 89th percentile were Level 4 students Rosie Crooker, Mather Kipka, and Liam McCall; Level 2 students Gwyneth Inglis, Kendall Larson, and Samuel Rousseau; and Level 1 students Jack Craig, Logan Decker, Audra Kratztenberger, Eva McCullough, Kendall Sullivan, Abigail Towers, and Jarrett Wohle.ย

Bronze Medals were awarded to students who scored in the 70th to 79th percentile including:ย Level 4 students Grace Phillips and Max Shumway, and Level 1 student Lydia Cleveland.

Achievement awards were granted to Level 4 students Henry Bernstein, Aria Frehner, David MacKay, and Zoe Werth; Level 2 students David DeShane, Addison Evans, and Ellie Ward; and Level 1 students Sarah Holdredge, Avery Swasey, and Donovan Sweeney.
