While graduation for Conant High School seniors remains up in the air, the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District has begun to shape its year-end plans, including 8th-grade celebrations and prom.

According to an announcement released by Conant Principal Brett Blanchard on Thursday, the Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School 8th grade will celebrate its final year through a virtual video presentation, which will be distributed to the family of each student. The video includes awards earned by students in their final year.

Usually, the 8th and 5th grades would undergo a transition process to introduce them to their new buildings. A transition process is currently being devised, including student learners working with the upcoming grades to connect them with mentors.

The district is also planning a ceremony for 8th grade students to take place in the fall.

The high school seniors and juniors may still receive some of their year-end traditions, though later in the summer, rather than the end of the school year. The venue for the junior prom has been secured for the first week of August, and will be held as a live event if current restrictions allow at that time.

Seniors and parents of seniors will be provided opportunities to provide feedback for graduation plans in two ways this week. A teleconference meeting between members of the senior class will be held at two separate times on Wednesday, and a survey to seniors and their parents will be distributed, to determine the best way to approach a graduation ceremony. In the meantime, each senior will have a banner with their photograph and name displayed in their hometown.

As part of year-end celebrations, the Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School and Conant High School faculty and staff are planning to hold a โ€œCaravan of Cheer!โ€ throughout the town of Jaffrey and Rindge, waving to and greeting students and families. The Jaffreyย route will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, and the Rindge route at 11:30 a.m.

The Caravan of Cheer! for the Jaffrey Grade School and Rindge Memorial School will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m. for Jaffrey and 1:30 p.m. for Rindge.

Routes for both parades are available on the districtโ€™s website at www.sau47.org.

Conant High School still plans to finish and provide a yearbook for students by the end of the school year, though distribution may be pushed back due to publishing delays.

The district is organizing the clean-out of student lockers and scheduling pick up times for personal items. Students must return district-owned items such as band instruments and Chromebook laptops at a time to be scheduled by the district.

The last day of school for Jaffrey-Rindge is scheduled for May 29. Conant High School will not be holding final examinations.
