The Antrim Fire Department responded to three brush fires in two days, two of which were caused by the improper disposal of wood ash.
On Sunday at 1:12 p.m., firefighters responded to 130 Pierce Lake Road, where a brush fire had spread over about a third of an acre beneath high voltage power lines.
โWe contained it quickly and were able to extinguish it,โ Fire Chief Marshal Gale said.
The fire was caused by careless disposal of wood ashes, he said.
On Monday at 3:02 p.m., the Department responded to another brush fire caused by wood ash disposal 6 Brookscroft Drive. The fire covered a 50 by 50 foot area, Gale said, and personnel were able to contain and extinguish the fire quickly even though it was approaching the house.
