Police were summoned to the municipal lot in downtown Peterborough Wednesday afternoon for a collision involving “not one, not two, not three, but four” vehicles, Police Chief Scott Guinard said, after a vehicle hit three parked, unoccupied cars in Peterborough while the driver was attempting to pull out of a parking spot.

Beverly Leach, 75, of Hancock was making a left hand turn out of a parking spot in a 2006 Honda when the car accelerated and collided with a 2013 Toyota.

“After colliding with that, the vehicle continued to make a left-hand turn and collided with a 2010 Subaru,” Guinard said, and then a third parked car, a 2014 Subaru.

Leach was uninjured, but her vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed, as well as the 2013 Toyota.

The two Subarus sustained damage but were able to be driven from the scene, Guinard said.

“It is not clear to us why this  happened,” he said.
