To the editor:

Greetings residents of New Ipswich, My name is Richard Smeeth, and I’m running to represent and serve you as one of six primary members on the New Ipswich Planning Board. While serving in an alternate capacity over the last six months has been educating and rewarding, my ability to influence decision-making is extremely limited.

As a primary member, I commit to be your advocate and to promote your perspective on key issues affecting the future of our town. I’m neither a career bureaucrat nor a politician, so why am I running? Simple answer, I’m passionate about our community and am eager to represent you as we work to continue meeting New Ipswich’s emerging priorities and challenges. My beliefs are my sticking points, and I’ll fight for them through thick and thin.

■ Representatives work for you.

■ They must remain open and honest.

■ Our quality of life must neither be put at risk nor sacrificed.

My goals include connecting our citizenry, town wide efficiency, infrastructure improvements, safety and the health and welfare of our community. We’ll do just that by a conducting a transparent, efficient council, investing in our public spaces, and in promoting orderly and wise development. Most importantly, I promise to work tirelessly to represent you.

In advance, thank-you for your time and support. Both are genuinely appreciated.

Richard C. Smeeth
