A Wednesday night fire was contained to the oil burner and chimney of a Dublin residence, Fire Chief Thomas Vanderbilt said Thursday.
The Fire Department responded to 42 Brush Brook Road at 10:19 p.m. after the homeowner noticed sparks coming out of the chimney, Vanderbilt said.
โThe flue pipe was red hot,โ he said, adding that the homeowner made the right call by shutting down the oil burner and vacating the structure until help could arrive.
An oil burner malfunction appears to have started the fire, Vanderbilt said.
Firefighters used their thermal imaging cameras to make sure the fire hadnโt spread to the rest of the house.
โItโs a good thing that it didnโt get away,โ he said.
