Police are drafting a warrant charging a Peterborough woman with simple assault and disorderly conduct after an altercation in the Peterborough Town Library last Wednesday.
A 54-year-old Peterborough woman allegedly assaulted a 72-year-old Peterborough woman after there had been an exchange of words between the two, Police Chief Scott Guinard said on Monday. The victim was still in the library when police arrived.
Police responded after the library director reported the disturbance at 4:21 p.m., in part because they weren’t initially sure whether the incident had something to do with Congresswoman Annie Kuster’s appearance at the library, scheduled for 5 p.m. that day. The incident had nothing to do with the Congresswoman’s engagement, Guinard said, although he was unable to say what the argument had been about, and couldn’t identify the suspect before she had been served with a warrant.
No serious injuries were reported, and no parties sought medical attention, Guinard said.
