A New Hampton man was arrested and charged with possessing heroin, methamphetamine and a stolen handgun following a motor vehicle crash in Peterborough Thursday night. Around 11:40 p.m. Thursday, police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Route 101 East, where they found the driver, Jonathan May, 34, of New Hampton, uninjured. According to a police department press release, May was found in possession of heroin, methamphetamine, and a stolen 9mm handgun. May initially resisted arrest, police said, but was quickly subdued and taken into custody, charged with possession of a controlled drug, transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property – firearm, resisting arrest and felon in possession of a dangerous weapon.
May was held without bail and transported to the Valley Street jail in Manchester to await arraignment in Hillsborough Superior Court, which was scheduled for Friday.
