Letter to the editor:
So many people participated in our Martin Luther King Jr. programs, bringing to life this year’s theme of Our Beloved Community, a central precept of Dr. King’s philosophy.
Thank you to our generous sponsors, whose cash and in-kind donations supported Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., the Student Poetry Contest and the National Day of Service project: Community Center of Jaffrey, Belletetes, Marc Tieger, New England Wood Pellet, Wright Painting, Monadnock Christian Ministries, New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Franklin Pierce University’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, and Cathedral of the Pines.
We are deeply grateful for the contributions to our programs by our school teachers and students, school music directors and choruses, the Rotary Interact Club, Jaffrey and Rindge libraries and the Jaffrey Woman’s Club. Special thanks also to Savron Graphics, John Sepe Social Media and The Park Theatre and to the United Church of Jaffrey for hosting our event.
We thank JerriAnne Boggis of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire for her inspiring and thought-provoking keynote speech and Rachel Sturges, New Hampshire Youth Poet Laureate, for her student poetry workshops and original poem opening our MLK Day ceremony.
For our marvelous Reception we are much indebted to Lee Sawyer and her volunteers, the United Church’s DDD and Brenda Pelkey, and Carolyn Edwards of Sunflowers, and to Morgan and Emmy Ratcliffe and Jeanne Witty for putting up our Exhibit.
The outpouring of interest, participation and support is the shining expression of our own loving community.
