The next event in the Notes Series at Sunflowers in Jaffrey will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5.Carolyn Edwards of Sunflowers and singer songwriter Wendy Keith of Peterborough are presenting another extraordinary evening that combines both live original music and spoken word in an intimate evening Sunflowers.

At 7 p.m., the entertainment will start off with singer-songwriter, Tom Smith. Smith is at times humorous, touching and thought provoking in the living tradition of folk music andย is a captivating songwriter and performer.

Following Smith will be NH poet Deborah Brown. Brownโ€™s book, โ€œThe Human Halfโ€ came out in April, and her first book, โ€œWalking the Dogโ€™s Shadowโ€ won an A.J.Poulin, Jr. award and a NH Literary Award for an Outstanding Book of Poetry and the title poem won a Pushcart Prize. Brown hasย taught at UNH and lives in Warner.

Leaf Seligman has taught writing in colleges, prisons, and community settings since 1985. She has worked as a minister, chaplain, caseworker and restorative justice practitioner. She is the author of โ€œOpening the Windowโ€, โ€œA Pocket Book of Promptsโ€ and โ€œFrom the Midway, Unfolding Stories of Redemption and Belongingโ€.

Finally, will be musician, percussionist and songwriter Tara Greenblatt. Greenblatt is a soulful vocalist and impressive percussionist. Her music and energy emanate wildness, expressing a love affair with nature. She crafts folk originals laced with stunning strings and jazzy arrangements.

โ€œNOTESโ€ takes place usually on the first Tuesday of each month. Please call Sunflowers in advance for reservations atย 593-3303. A light buffet supper including dessert will be presented at a nominal fee beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are a must as the last two events sold out.
