Two local communities have been recognized by Governor Chris Sununu for their creative endeavors, winning two categories of the state’s Governor’s Arts Awards which are to be presented at a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 21.

The Crotched Mountain School in Greenfield has been awarded the “Arts in Health” award, which recognizes individuals or organizations that provide increased access to the arts for people in health care settings or with physical, mental or emotional disabilities.

The town of Mason received the “Creative Communities” award, which recognizes a town or town-wide organization for its support of the arts through funding programs or organizing art initiatives.

On Monday, the Governor’s Arts Awards recipients will be recognized by Sununu during a ceremony and reception at the Capitol Center for the Arts’ Bank of New Hampshire Stage in Concord, hosted by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

Each recipient will receive an award designed and created by Berlin sculptor Andre Belanger, which is based on the State House dome eagle – the first public art in the state.

Tickets for the awards ceremony are $25 and are available through the Capitol Center for the Arts at ccanh.com.
