To the editor:

Amy’s last name, Klobuchar, in Slovene, the language of Slovenia means hat maker. Slovenians are more numerous in Minnesota than they are in New Hampshire. Get to know this name and how to pronounce it. It is properly pronounced as though the last four letters were SHAR instead of CHAR and with emphasis on the last syllable. In her autobiography, AMY KLOBUCHAR; The Senator next door, a good, serious and enjoyable read, and “A Memoir From the Heartland” she makes the case for her candidacy as prospective President of the United States.

Half a generation younger than Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden, she is a moderate Democrat who stands with Biden on the need for our citizens to have a choice of health insurance options. Her range of experience in state, national and state government, including as a prosecuting attorney and as state Attorney General before she became Minnesota’s Senior Senator, where Hubert Humphey stood a generation ago, has been comprehensive and broad. We will have many opportunities to observe her progress in the next thirteen months. I see her as at the top of the pack of Democrat candidates so, as we hear often on television, give a listen.
