The DubHub will feature the art quilts of Wendy Parker during the month of October. The opening reception will be Friday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Parker is inspired by the natural world and the lovely colors, beautiful textures and interesting patterns that can be found by looking closely at her surroundings. “All of my art quilts are free motion quilted (FMQ) on a domestic sewing machine in my home. I create unique fabrics by hand-dyeing, marbleizing, silk screening and sun-printing to name a few… Art quilting allows me to combine many surface design techniques into finished pieces of art. Nearly all of my work is realistic in style. Images are created by layering pencils, crayons and archival inks. I use the needle [on my sewing machine] like a pen to outline and fill in the pictures I create with a variety of threads,” Parker said.

Admission is free and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The Dublin Community Center is located at 1123 Main St. in Dublin. For more information email info@dublincommunitycenter.org.
