Conant 5, Monadnock 0

The Orioles picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday, shutting out Monadnock 5-0.

Ethan Vitello scored twice for Conant; Jacob Tremblay, Chris Wilson and Scott Labrecque also put the ball in the net.

“We controlled the game throughout,” said head coach Dan Bemis. “We really moved the ball well this game and made smart plays throughout.”

Garrett Somero, back in the goal after missing time with an injury, got the shutout.

Conant (1-5) hosts Mascenic (4-1) for homecoming Saturday at 1 p.m.

Newmarket 5, WLC 0

Newmarket won the battle of the unbeatens on Wednesday, as WLC allowed their first goals of the season and suffered their first loss.

“Let’s just say reality check for us,” said WLC head coach Kristin Schwab, who said her Warriors will be working on set-piece coverage after allowing three goals off corner kicks against the Mules.

WLC (5-1) is at Hinsdale (2-4) Monday at 4 p.m.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Newmarket 6, WLC 1

Undefeated Newmarket played the spoiler against WLC Wednesday, handing the Warriors their first loss of the year.

“A lot of good lessons learned from this tough game,” said WLC head coach Dan Ayotte.

Sophia Sistachs scored for the Warriors off a Kaitlin Loverme assist.

Rama Koudsi made 12 saves in goal, and played a fantastic game despite the score, Ayotte said.

WLC (5-1) travels to Portsmouth Christian (3-1) Friday at 4:30 p.m.
