To the editor:
The images of caged-in children is almost too much to bear. Our southern border is dotted with detention camps (run by private contractors who are charging the US government upwards of $775 per day per child). Yet the children donโt have toothbrushes, blankets, access to showers, clean clothing, or good food.
Some are being held far longer than court orders allow. They are not criminals, they are not animals.
The bishops of six Episcopal dioceses in Texas have issue a joint statement decrying these inhumane conditions. Our faiths teach us to love our neighbors; there are no exceptions.
Please attend the Lights for Liberty rally at the Peterborough Town House on Friday; join us in demanding an end to these detention camps.
