PeterboroughTrumpet Gallery to host summer show

Summer wouldn’t be the same without melon. But not just any melon, as visitors to Peterborough’s Trumpet Fine Arts Gallery will soon experience for themselves.

“We’re talking fresh melon – and the vibrant ‘slice of life’ melon art of New Hampshire artist Kipp Miller,” says artist Mona Adisa Brooks, Trumpet’s owner and teacher-in-residence. “This, along with the creations of a dozen other great local artists, is what we’ll be serving at our upcoming ‘In the Good Old Summertime’ exhibit.”

Miller, a painter and sculptor from Hancock, says that he finds his greatest inspiration in the bits of glass, iron, bone, and wood he happens upon in the woods, along roadsides – and at Hancock’s town dump.

“I’m naturally drawn to objects bruised and broken, overlooked or long forgotten,” Miller says. “I take joy in giving new life to what others consigned to time’s dustbin.”

Trumpet Gallery’s “In the Good Old Summertime” opening reception is Friday, July 12 from 5 to 8 p.m., and runs through Aug. 31.
