New IpswichGrowing season talk

Roger Swain will be talking about the unusual growing season this year on Saturday at the Amazing Flower Farm in New Ipswich.

Swain was the long-time host of the “Victory Garden” on public television. Known as a gardening guru and as “the man in the red suspenders,” Swain has written five gardening books and is the former science editor of Horticulture magazine.

“He’s so funny and engaging and full of knowledge,” said Ara Lynn, owner of the Amazing Flower Farm.

She previously hosted Swain in 2017 when he talked about extending the growing season, among other topics.

“We had so many requests to have him back,” Lynn said. “People learned a lot from him and had a good time doing it.”

At Saturday’s presentation, Swain will focus on this year’s peculiar growing season. He also plans to devote time to answering audience members’ questions.

Swain and Lynn are putting on the event in support of the St.Vincent de Paul – Sacred Heart food pantry in Greenville. Audience members are asked to bring either canned goods or a monetary donation for the pantry.

The talk will run from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information call (603) 878-9876 or email plants@amazingflowerfarm.com. The Amazing Flower Farm is located at 202 Poor Farm Road, New Ipswich.
