New Ipswich police are asking the public for help finding a male who chased a young female running on High Bridge Road Friday night.

On Friday at about 8:45 p.m., a young woman jogging on High Bridge Road near Turnpike Road was approached by a male on a motorcycle who pulled over near her, got off the motorcycle and then chased her until she got to a nearby residence, police said in a Facebook post Saturday.

Police are still searching for the man this week, New Ipswich Police Chief Tim Carpenter said Monday.ย

โ€œThat is what we know and that is all we know,โ€ Carpenter said of the departmentโ€™s Facebook post. โ€œWeโ€™re still asking for the publicโ€™s help in that.โ€

Police described the male as white, with a slim build, roughly 6 feet tall, with a beard, wearing a leather jacket, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. Police also said he was riding a Harley-style motorcycle believed to be black or dark colored with silver pipes.

Carpenter said there have been no other similar reports of suspicious behavior, but said runners should take common-sense precautions.

โ€œObviously, be aware of your surroundings. If someone is acting suspicious, head to the nearest residence and report it. We always encourage people to be out in pairs, regardless of where you are,โ€ Carpenter said.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the male is asked to contact New Ipswich police at (603)ย 878-2771.
