PortsmouthAntrim artist’s work in new exhibit

New Hampshire Art Association artist Bess French of Antrim will be displaying her latest assemblage sculptures in a Body of Work II exhibit titled, “Allegories” at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth during the month of July. The opening reception is on Friday, July 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.

In this exhibit French, a New Hampshire native, uses found objects and antique artifacts to tell personal and universal narratives.

“Growing up and living in rural New Hampshire has given me a deep respect and admiration for the objects that tell stories of the people living here in this state. I strive to convey a sense of place, wonder and belonging by arranging and juxtaposing items in a way that makes the viewer interested in the stories these objects have to tell.”

French lives in Antrim and has had her work in various exhibits throughout New England including AVA Gallery in Lebanon, Gallery Z in Lowell, Mass., NHIA in Manchester and Colby Sawyer College in New London.
