A pickup truck landed in a swamp after rolling down the embankment on Cemetery Road in Lyndeborough on Thursday night.

At 9:17 p.m., a pickup with two adults and two dogs was leaving the boat launch on Cemetery Road when the vehicle was sucked in by the soft dirt on the edge of the road, going over the embankment and rolling once, landing on its wheels, Lyndeborough Fire Chief Brian Smith said Friday.

โ€œIt was slippery due to the rain, and they got too close to the edge,โ€ Smith said.

Smith said there was some evidence speed was a factor in the crash.

The embankment was about 12 feet, and the vehicle landed in a swampy area.

The driver, passenger and dogs were not injured. The vehicle had to be removed from the swamp by two tow trucks, and is likely a total loss, Smith said. There was no fluid spilled into the swamp from the vehicle, he said.
