A Lyndeborough man was uninjured during a crash on Mountain Road on Thursday when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a deer in the road.

Jeremy Davison of Lyndeborough was driving on Mountain Road shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday, only a few minutes from his home, when a deer jumped out in front of him, he said at the scene of the crash.

โ€œWildlife, man. I tried avoiding it. My wife had an accident with a deer last year,โ€ Davison said on scene.

He said rain had reduced the traction on the roads and he lost control of the vehicle when trying to avoid the deer and went off the road and hit a tree head-on.

Davison said he was wearing his seatbelt and wasnโ€™t hurt.

โ€œWhich is the important thing,โ€ he said.

He did not hit the deer, which he said was still in the woods nearby when emergency personnel arrived.

โ€œIt was just down by the gate, watching us,โ€ he said, indicating a short way into the woods on the roadside.
