A man removing the Christmas lights on his Jaffrey house Saturday had to be rescued from his roof by firefighters after he fell and possibly broke his leg, Peterborough Fire Chief Ed Walker said.

“The guy was on the roof taking his Christmas lights off on June 8,” Walker said.

Jaffrey and Peterborough firefighters responded to the South Shore Road house shortly before 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Walker said. The man had placed a ladder on a lower part of his roof. It was a first story roof about ten feet off the ground, Walker said. Either the man fell from the ladder or the ladder slipped, he said, either way the man fell and was stuck on the lower roof with a possible broken leg.

Jaffrey firefighters placed and secured the man in a rescue basket and Peterborough firefighters assisted with their ladder truck to bring the man safety to the ground. He was then taken to the hospital for his leg injury, Walker said.
