Have you been to ledgertranscript.com lately? Yesterday the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript launched a website redesign that we’re excited about.

If you haven’t already, go online and check it out. Go ahead, use your phone. The website was designed with several features to make scrolling and reading on your phone easier. If you are anything like me, that is how you digest most of your news.

Why the changes? We want you to have the best experience possible when you’re on our website. Our digital team used reader and staff feedback, metrics from tools like Chartbeat and Google Analytics and best practices in newspaper website design to plan the updates. The goals were better performance with faster loading pages, simplified navigation and improved readability. You’ll find we’ve used some different fonts, added more content to the homepage and brought back “most popular stories” because, well, we found it was popular.

Our photographers take some great photos and we’ve made some changes to show them at their best. If you haven’t heard, our own Ben Conant recently won the New Hampshire Press Association’s 2018 Photographer of the Year award. Now, when you click on a photo at the top of a story, it opens in a black-background gallery view to highlight the quality of the photos.

If you are already a subscriber, your username and password have not changed. If you aren’t a subscriber, be sure to visit our site for five free stories a month. And if you like what you read, please support local journalism and become a subscriber. We offer digital-only subscriptions if you like and our print subscription always includes full access to our website and electronic edition. You can subscribe online at www.ledgertranscript.com or call (603) 924-7172.

We know a lot of our readers love us in print, and we love print, too, but as the industry has changed, so have we. We’re now a digital-first newsroom and while we only print twice a week, we post stories online daily. Please make a visit to our site part of your daily routine.

A few other changes to highlight: our Headline Alerts email newsletter now arrives at 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, giving you access to stories and the electronic edition well before the print paper hits the streets. If you haven’t already, go to the Email Newsletter box on the website and sign up to get it delivered to your inbox. And for those of you who prefer to read the e-edition, we’ll have an app in the next few weeks to make the e-edition easier to read on phones, iPads, tablets and other mobile devices.

We hope you like the changes. Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue to make tweaks, so we hope you’ll let us know what you think.
