Selectwoman says vote for Kennedy

To the editor:

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as a member of the Peterborough Select Board for 12 years. I love this community and the extraordinary, talented and visionary people who live here. It is important to me that we elect an individual for the Select Board who is willing to lead by listening and working with others. I am writing in support of Bill Kennedy.

I have known Bill Kennedy for more than ten years. I especially appreciate that Kennedy is a consensus-builder, seeking out new ideas and different perspectives, weighing the alternatives, considering possible outcomes and developing reasonable positions. Heโ€™s approachable and engaged, and genuinely committed to this town.

In everything he does, Kennedy uses common sense and best business practices. The fact that he created two highly successful businesses in Peterborough, which attracted young talent and helped drive economic growth, is evidence of that.

Because of the past recession, many infrastructure projects in the town have been delayed. Now we are paying the priceโ€ฆ. the DPW garage and fire station are both not structurally sound. The selectmen in the next few years will be met with enormous financial challenges.

We need someone who has a strong grasp on how to pay for infrastructure improvement and at the same time keep taxes from spikingโ€ฆ.someone who will find ways to increase revenue and decrease expenses. I know Bill Kennedy to be fiscally conservative and up to that task.

If you have not spoken with Bill Kennedy, I hope you will attend the May 6, League of Women Voters, Meet the Candidates Night, so you can meet him.

I am writing to offer my wholehearted support for Bill Kennedy for Selectman. Please join me in voting for him.
