The Conant boys’ tennis team only had five players in attendance against Kearsarge on Friday, and it cost them, as the Orioles had to forfeit at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles and ended up losing to the Cougars by one, 5-4.
No. 1 Evan Bennett beat Tucker Valovic, 8-3; No. 2 Chris Newton beat Jake Long, 8-0; No. 3 Dameion Greco lost to Toby McLeod, 8-2; No. 4 Steve Jones lost in a tiebreak to Steve Williams and No. 5 Kenny Kickingbear beat Xavier Blaningame, 8-5.
Bennett and Greco lost 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Newton and Jones won their doubles match, 8-2.
The Orioles (2-3) were scheduled to host Bishop Brady Monday at 4 p.m. and travel to Sanborn on Wednesday.
