A Jaffrey man has been arrested after his truck crashed into a River Street residence on Thursday night, the conclusion to a state police pursuit that began in Rindge.

Ryan Parent, 29, has been charged with class B felony counts of aggravated DWI and reckless conduct, as well as operating after suspension and disobeying an officer, both class A misdemeanors, State Police Troop C Commander Lt. Michael Kokoski said Monday morning.

“[The state trooper] had lost visual of the truck as he began to get closer to Jaffrey,” Kokoski said. “The officers in the area continued to look when the report of a vehicle into the house came in.”

Parent was transported to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester following the crash, Kokoski said, with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was injured during the pursuit or crash, Kokoski said.

Lauren Collins-Cline, Director of Communications and Public Relations for Catholic Medical Center, said late Monday morning that Parent was no longer at the hospital. She was not able to specify if he had been released on transferred to another hospital.

Kokoski said a state trooper was stationed in Rindge on Route 202 just after 9:30 p.m. for routine traffic patrol, when he observed a dark-colored pickup truck speed by.

The driver of the truck appeared to increase his speed after police attempted to stop him, Kokoski said, and he exhibited a number of hazardous behaviors during the pursuit including striking a guardrail.

The trooper lost sight of the truck while traveling on Route 202 towards Jaffrey, Kokoski said, and terminated the pursuit.

About three minutes later, a report came in that a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado had struck a house on River Street. After police arrived, it was determined that the truck matched the description of the vehicle involved in the police chase.

“It’s likely that the crash was along the same route as the pursuit,” Kokoski said.

Parent’s truck crashed through a fence and came to final rest against the foundation of a River Street house. Kokoski said there were some visible cracks to the walls inside the home, but did not know more about the condition of the building.

“Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash,” Kokoski said.

Parent was arrested the following day and was later released on bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Cheshire Superior Court on March 14.
