Singer-songwriter Tyler Allgood of Bennington’s most heartfelt, personal work to date will be on display at Harlow’s Pub on Friday night. You may know Allgood from his work in BandBand or his appearance at last year’s Dead of Winter show; upcoming album, “The Weight of Thunder,” is something else altogether.
“Perfect lies, slide off your teeth,” Allgood sings, halfway between a croon and a growl, baring his soul.
Allgood’s album is purely acoustic, just him and the guitar, but at the album release concert Friday at Harlow’s Pub, he’ll be joined by the Extra Friendly’s, an all-star cast of local musicians including Mike Chadinha (Roots of Creation) on drums, Eliot Pelletier (End of Never) on guitar, Ashley Boudreau on vocals, Tom Rutledge (Varsity Material) on bass and Philip Parison on keyboard.
The show starts at 9 p.m Friday.
“The Weight of Thunder” is also available at Toadstool Sounds and Gaia’s Blessing.
Jam band fans should flock to the Peterborough Town House on Saturday night for the Uplift Winter Ball featuring Zach Nugent’s Fire on the Mountain.
Nugent, guitarist for recent incarnations of the post-Jerry Garcia JGB, leads supergroup Fire on the Mountain through a night of Grateful Dead tunes. The band includes bassist Tony Markellis and drummer Russ Lawton, who made their jam bones in Phish frontman Trey Anastasio’s solo band.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $29 at the door; check out eventbrite.com for tickets.
