Focusing on the kiosk/billboard next to the Toadstool Bookshop, Mackenzie Burnside, 19, of Antrim, who is a student at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, does some homework in Peterborough Sunday, capturing images downtown with a NHIA issued 4×5 film camera.

The 2017 ConVal High School graduate is a first year photography major at NHIA where photography students exclusively shoot with 35-millimeter cameras in their first year.

“For this class we are only allowed to use the 4×5 cameras. And we’ve started working on our finals so I decided since nobody is really from this area or really ventures over here I’d photograph over on this side of the state. I think it’s a little bit more interesting sometimes with it being more rural than urban Manchester. And then I take pictures of things that most people don’t usually look at,” Burnside said.

Subjects have included the back side of buildings, including the Mariposa Museum building in Peterborough. “And a couple of other ‘art spots.’ I mostly focus on photographing scrap metal and other things that people completely overlook. I think it’s interesting.”
