Jaffrey-based attorney Jeffrey Crocker of Tower, Crocker & Smith P.A. has joined Upton and Hatfield, a full-service law firm with offices in Concord, Hillsborough and Portsmouth.
Crocker, in an interview Monday, said that the move will not only allow him to offer his services to a wider network of people throughout the state, but will also allow people in the Monadnock region to tap into Upton and Hatfield’s resources easier.
“There will continue to be a legal presence in the community,” said Crocker, who joined Upton and Hatfield on May 1. “I feel like I fulfilled a duty to my hometown community.”
Crocker will continue to work out of his Main Street office in Jaffrey, but will be able to meet with clients at the other Upton and Hatfield offices. Crocker said there will also be opportunities for other Upton and Hatfield attorneys to meet with clients in his office.
Crocker said he reached out to some attorneys he knew at Upton and Hatfield after the retirement of his partner David Tower in September.
“Clients have been asking for some time what would happen to their files if I departed … until now I didn’t have a good answer,” said Crocker. “I figured it would be good for the community to have successorship.”
Partnerships have already began to occur since joining Upton and Hatfield, according to Crocker.
Last Friday, one of Crocker’s clients came to him with an urgent matter. With the issue not being one of Crocker’s areas of expertise – he primarily deals with wills, trusts, real estate, and business – he was able to refer his client to another attorney within his Upton and Hatfield network.
Another Upton and Hatfield attorney made an appearance in the Jaffrey office last week so they could work with local clients.
“It will be happening as needed and with regularity,” said Crocker, who said Upton and Hatfield have about 20 attorneys with varying practices.
