A group of local elementary school students are hoping to raise money and awareness for homeless pets in the community.
Rindge Memorial School fifth graders Madison Bellofatto, Elli Cassidy, and Kaylee Truong, have recently created a charity, Operation Save All Animals, which is devoted to raise food, money, and other donations for local animal shelters. The students are hoping that raising money and items for the local animals will also inspire the community to adopt pets into their families.
“My goal is to lower the amount of animals that get euthanized every year,” said Bellofatto.
Bellofatto said she was inspired to help animal shelters after recently reading “A Dog’s Purpose” by W. Bruce Cameron and writing a report about the topic of animals without homes. Bellofatto said she reached out to Cassidy and Truong, who were on board with creating a charity, which was in part inspired by “Stuffie Buddies,” another recently started charity by RMS students.
“I’m glad that we have students here that care so much,” said Rindge Memorial School Principal Kelly Marcotte. “I think it’s great. It’s very inspiring.”
Proceeds will go to animal shelters such as The Humane Society of Keene, cat shelters in Winchendon, Massachusetts and Jaffrey, and others.
To make a donation to Operation Save All Animals, drop pet food, bowls, toys, beds, money, and other pet-related items to Rindge Memorial School. Questions can be directed to the school office at 899-3363. Collections will take place through the end of May.
