A public hearing concerning the adoption of a blasting and heavy construction activities regulation in Rindge has been rescheduled to Feb. 21.

The Planning Board’s hearing, rescheduled from Feb. 7 due to weather, will take place at the Rindge town office at 7 p.m.

Interim Planning Director Kirk Stenersen said Wednesday that the regulation came to be due to concerns in town regarding the impact that blasting and heavy construction could have on local resources, such as town infrastructure and natural resources.

During the hearing, the Planning Board will take public comment on the proposed regulation, and potentially approve it after the hearing.

The regulation, if passed, will put forth regulations for construction projects that involve significant earth moving or excavation.

Regulations would not be applied to any project under 50,000 cubic yards of excavation or earth moving and where under 10 acres of land are disturbed.

A draft copy of the regulation is available at the town office and on the town’s website.
