Two-thirds of Jaffrey’s Select Board unanimously recommended 26 warrant and petition warrant articles.

At Monday’s Select Board meeting, Cush Moore and Frank Sterling discussed and recommended all financial-based articles in preparation for Town Meeting and Saturday’s budget hearing. Selectman Don MacIsaac was unable to recommend any of the articles, as he was not in attendance.

“My recommendation is for Don to speak up at [Saturday’s budget hearing] to voice his opinion on the warrant articles,” said interim Town Manager John MacLean.

Moore and Sterling discussed holding off on voting for warrant articles, as the board’s recommendation will appear on the town warrant, but it was determined that the vote needed to be taken prior to Saturday’s budget hearing.

The Select Board also held a public hearing on a warrant article that would create a revolving fund for fire special details.

Fire Chief David Chamberlain said that 95-percent of all fire details in town are state mandated monitoring of fireworks, which in most cases is testing being done by Atlas. Chamberlain said testing occurs a couple times a year.

The fund would be a way for the town to bill the detail and is not meant to be a revenue source, as the bills coming in would be paying for the personnel on the special details.
