ConVal’s annual Early Bird wrestling tournament brought some of the finest wrestlers in the state to Peterborough to take on the Cougars. In the end, ConVal got one overall win and a few more athletes who finished near the top of their divisions.
Dan Curran projects to be one of New Hampshire’s finest in his weight class — whatever that might be. Curran, who’s down in the 170-lb. range, plans on wrestling in whichever class he can find the fiercest competition. Hence, he moved up to 182 at Saturday’s meet, where he beat Exeter’s Tim Ramsay, Bishop Guertin’s Mitch Lachs and Exeter’s Matt Worthen, all by pinfall, to win the class.
Elsewhere, ConVal’s Matt Kimball was third in the 120-lb. class after beating Plymouth’s Trevor Randlett. Ryan Murray took fourth in the 285-lb. class, where he beat Kearsarge’s Reilly Mosklaenko.
The Cougars return to the mats Wednesday, when they host Hollis-Brookline at 7 p.m.
